If you are thinking of producing your own web videos you have probably wondered what equipment to get to ensure you get great quality production.

Well it all boils down to price, functionality, easy use, compatability, and results, and probably most importantly how much time you have to spend fiddling round trying to get things right. 

The Mac has always had a name for graphics production and still rocks – however it does not run PC software unless you are running an emulator. PCs are typically cheaper and these days laptops are very powerful and can do the job.  Your choice between desktop and laptop probably will depend on how many videos you want to produce.

If you are doing a lot of video, it porbably makes sense to choose a desktop dedicated to your web video production and spec it up to the limit with quadcore processors and maximum memory you can afford. Also remember video takes up a lot of storage space so make sure you get a hard drive with at least 200 GB and runs at 7200rpm or more.

I used to work at Dell and their XPS range are excellent for video graphics, as they were originally built for gaming. Better than that if you are doing a lot of video would be a Precision workstation. They are built for maximum reliability and use with specialized graphics applications.
