You will have noticed how video has been growing exponentially over the last few years. The following graph shows how use of Youtube has grown.

Most good websites these days are integrating video these days. Not only does it improve usability and add interest to a site, but video is also easier to rank in the search engines than standard content. If you don’t have video on your site you are missing a trick.

There is a perception that the top search results are the leading brands and with search engines often showing video results integrated on the first page, video marketing is an additional way to market your brand and get visibility for your website or business.

In 2010 we are going to see a lot more businesses turning to video to improve their brand visibility. However just uploading a video to Youtube is not going to get you far.

There are a number of things you need to do to get your video noticed.

Firstly, you have to make sure the video is optimized for search. The title and description are very important. Make sure you are including your important keywords. There is a free course on Keyword research at Search Classroom.

Secondly you need to make sure you have the right equipment because it is very easy to produce low quality video. See my other posts about Web Video Equipment.

Third you need a way to distribute the video. This is where TrafficGeyser really comes in. It hugely simplifies the task of getting your video noticed. When you upload your video into Traffic Geyser you can then distribute it to between 15 to 130 sites depending on your membership level. Pricing ranges from $47 per month upwards.
